We are looking for a talented new Systems Administrator to join our exciting and growing team in London. We build advanced web applications and create our own products that are used by both the private and public sectors securing new licensing deals regularly. We build Php applications for clients such as intranets portals and other information management systems. These systems are business critical and have a direct impact on the clients work flows and overall business. We also work with some of the big brand advertising agencies building systems for their clients. We seek a System Administrator to co-manage a network of web email database Dns backup and both physical and virtual servers. We use the following technologies and packages so you should have some knowledge of most of this list. But the critically you need to be familiar with Linux Unix with a good understanding of web applications (1 year or more) Php (configuration package management and debugging) MySQL (replication and optimising) Apache (Rewrites Virtualhosts and Acl) Linux Os (Rhel CentOS and Fedora) Svn version control Python Perl and or Shell Exim Postfix Dovecot and or Courier Site-to-site and client-server Vpn firewalls routers and general networking VirtualBox Vmware Infrastructure and Amazon Aws virtualization platforms The Role will include Provisioning web applications on the Byng server farm using a variety of frameworks including Byng s own basecode. Monitoring in-house servers and client workgroup servers Responsibility for the smooth running of the Byng infrastructure Responsibility for assisting clients with connectivity and infrastructure issues Provisioning and configuring a range of new servers with a variety of characteristics You should be comfortable proactively monitoring systems tweaking and observing to make sure all systems in your purview are operating optimally. These systems will be powering large-scale software applications and as such part of the role will be as gatekeeper to a stable deployment platform monitoring code updates and database schema alterations. Byng Systems innovates through its staff by providing an environment where employees can expand their skills and operate with a high degree of autonomy. Particularly with this role you will be expected to ensure the stability of the Byng infrastructure and be able to quickly logically and reliably fix problems as and when they arise. You should be comfortable configuring and troubleshooting Lamp web server environments and ideally would have Php Shell Python or Perl scripting experience to optimise software provisioning processes. Knowledge of at least one Mta and Imap server is preferred as well as experiences mitigating connectivity firewall and routing issues. You will also be welcome to bring in your own thoughts and previous experiences which could help us make our environment and processes both for monitoring and provisioning smoother and more agile.
