Logistical Driver (Acton)

The Sofa and Chair Company is currently looking to recruit an experienced Logistical Driver who will be operating out of our West London based Workshop becoming an important member of our Delivery Team. The right candidate will be a self-driven person with a positive can-do attitude. The candidate must show a clear focus on the planning through to delivery and customer service in the high quality high value furniture industry we work in. We are looking for a mature credible person with excellent communication skills who can work as part of a team in our multi-cultural workshop. You must be a well organised individual reliable tolerant yet determined to succeed in a busy working environment. You will be a front line ambassador of The Sofa and Chair you must have the essential customer service and care abilities we require. Key Skills Need to have a clean UK driver s license and be 25 or over for insurance purposes The candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Excel Excellent communication skills and fluent in English This is a physically demanding role Ability to lift and carry heavy merchandise Provide excellent customer service and care Knowledge of London and Greater London Areas Responsibilities Booking and liaising with Customers Logistical route planning (maximising Deliveries at a minimum cost to the business) Quality Packaging and Product care from Warehouse to Customer Support out of Hours and Deliveries and Saturday Overtime when the business needs are required Furniture installation and Assembly is an advantage Assist in warehouse duties Maintain a clean and tidy van Stable work history Excellent salary will be agreed based on your experience. Job Description Booking and liaising with Customers Clients regarding deliveries collections rework to maximise the amount of deliveries within the week. Schedule and allocate feasible time required to complete jobs in Outlook calendar. Organise and route plan the most productive and efficient route for delivery. Verify the contents of loads against shipping delivery notes. Inspect packaging protection Load secure furniture for transportation to Customer Client delivery address. Assist in warehouse duties whenever possible and necessary. Securing the Van overnight When a sales order freight delivery charge exceeds the internal in house cost of delivery the cost difference should be identified. Contact the Customer Client and Sales Consultant if inevitable delay will cause issue with the delivery or collection of furniture. When delivering to the Customers Clients address some furniture may require installation and assembly at the delivery address. Perform access onsite checks for Customer Client pre delivery. When interacting with Customers Clients drivers need good customer service and care abilities. Company business processes private information should remain in-house only Inspect and maintain vehicle including supplies and equipment such as fuel oil water tires lights fuses and brakes in order to ensure that vehicle is in proper working condition. Report any mechanical problems encountered with the vehicle. Maintain a clean and tidy van Provide photocopies of Driving licence and Counterpart for Company insurance records Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures. Report extensive delays accidents or other traffic and transportation situations. Use and maintain the tools supplied and equipment found on the delivery vehicle and always leave the vehicle locked and secured whenever being left unattended carry certain furniture components e.g. Felt Pads Present delivery notes bills expense receipts and collect payments for goods delivered or loaded.
