Job title Embedded Software Engineer Job specification A UK based private company in Worcestershire are looking to expand their Technology Development Team The successful applicant will work in a small group of Hardware and Software Engineers. The Company exports to over 50 countries and has recently won several awards including the Queens award for Enterprise. The company specialises in developing manufacturing the worldwide sales ultrasonic products for industrial process control. We are now looking for a Linux software engineer with the depth of experience to realise a wide range of cutting-edge Linux based products. The successful candidate will work from the inception of the embedded project through to product launch influencing product definition architecture feature implementation and solving complex technical problems. He she will have opportunities across all levels of the Os from Ui frameworks through system middleware (such as graphics multimedia and communication frameworks) down to the kernel and device drivers. Successful candidates would need to demonstrate extensive knowledge of one or more of these areas. Responsibilities Implementation of new features all phases of the software development process from requirements analysis through test to maintenance Assisting in product specification customisation software design implementation integration troubleshooting and optimisation Analyzing new requirements to helping solve complex technical problems Use of build integration release and packaging tools for projects Qualifications Degree in electronics computer science or related discipline preferred domain experience and knowledge also considered Skills experience Proven C and C++ development experience on embedded Arms platforms Must have deep knowledge of embedded systems based on Linux 2.6.x the Gnu tool chain and Gui tools (preferably Qt) including bootloader kernel and device driver design Hands-on experience in embedded Os development and debug techniques and in all phases of the software development process. Familiar with Arm Cortex processor is most preferred Productisation experience i.e. bringing software to commercial launch quality Good understanding of system integration and test issues Ability to work well in a team or independently Desirable Scripting ability (Html etc.
