My client is a decent and improving state primary school situated in the London Borough of Waltham Forest. The school itself is an average sized two form entry primary school set within easy commute from the nearest underground station. The school catchment area is quite working class although some pupils do come from severely deprived backgrounds and the staff are sensitive to the social issues that the school must tackle. The pupils are predominantly Eal pupils from Eastern Europe although just over a third of the pupils are from ethnic minority backgrounds. The proportion of pupils with special educational needs and or disabilities is just above average. Their needs include behavioural emotional and academic difficulties. The school has a number of awards reflecting its contribution to developing pupils healthy lifestyles such as the Healthy School award and Activemark. A number of visitors regularly teach and promote sporting activities during lessons and outside normal school hours. The Head teacher is looking for someone with strong behaviour management skills as there are some lively pupils and although the school wouldn t be deemed as especially challenging this is as a result of good school policies and the strong behaviour management skills of the existing staff. The teaching staff are quite lively and the school encourages staff to take a creative approach to lesson planning and preparation as the Smt believe firmly that children learn best in an environment that is engaging and fun. There is a good social side to school life as over half the staff are under the age of 32. Speaking to the Head Teacher the staff and former employees it is apparent that the school is a pleasant place to work. The Head Teacher has indicated that they are keen to meet with anyone who has upper Ks2 experience. Planning and preparation will be conducted with a parallel teacher who has been at the school for over four years and who is really upbeat and helpful.
