Service and It Operations Manager (Telco, Voip, Linux, Unix) (East London)

Service and It Operations Manager (Telco Voip Linux Unix The role sits within the It team and reports directly to the It Director overseeing the administration and maintenance of all It and telephony network services and infrastructure. You will manage a team of around 5 engineers who will support our client s technology services. The Service and Operations manager is responsible for supporting the technology infrastructure of the business managing change and enhancements monitoring service performance diagnosing problems and responding to and resolving of incidents. The hardware comprises Linux and Windows based servers Cisco network equipment Video conferencing servers desktop equipment (Pc s printers etc) and cabling located and hosted in various Data Centre locations. The services include web services (Apache MySql databases email Dns Nas and voice conferencing systems. The role also involves liaising with external suppliers and internal departments and acting as an escalation point within the company. The suitable candidate should have a solid background in service and server delivery preferably with a Telco background and should have experience of current best practice and industry standards. Responsibilities Taking ownership and accountability for all operational services Proactive leadership and management of actions carried out by the operations team in order to provide consistent and exceptional service Line management to ensure high performance. Including performance reviews setting personal objectives and training plans Formal and ad hoc reporting and escalation to It Director and others as required Leading the team in investigating and resolving of faults and failures to getting problems restored and drive all proactive actions to reduce outages Build relationships with business sponsors to help with Service Improvement strategies and evaluations and then translating these into feasible solutions and business cases Work with wider It team to contribute to overall strategy and performance improvements Technical Competencies VoIP telephony using Sip protocol Cisco networking products and Ios command set Linux Systems (CentOS or Redhat Tcp Ip networking Ip protocols and routing e.g. Tcp Ip Dhcp Smtp Dns Microsoft Desktop applications e.g. Word Excel Outlook Structured cabling systems e.g. Cat 5 Lan connectivity. Experience 3 to 10 years It Operations experience in a Carrier or Service Provider environment Proven professional approach when managing a team owning live services and driving through fixes within agreed Sla targets Experience supporting High availability 24 7 operation environments A demonstrable track record in service delivery and service improvement plan management that has led to continual successful service stability Itil experience certification strong communication and people leadership skills alongside a passion for creating fun high-performance company cultures Useful Additional Skills Ss7 interconnect. Familiar with Pdh and Sdh Transmission technology. Least cost routing wholesale termination and traffic analysis. Linux operating system and commands. Familiarity with MySQL or similar database. Education A bachelor s degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline is preferred but all candidates with good relevant experience will be considered. An industry certification such as Cisco Ccna or above would be advantageous.
