Job Title Purpose Job Title Cnc Setter Operator Location Leighton Buzzard Author Operations Director Date March 2011 Purpose of the Job To set and operate Cnc and conventional machine tools in a safe manner with in the structures business manufacturing and inspecting components to meet quality cost and delivery requirements. Position in the Organisation Organisational Reporting This role reports directly to Team Leader for tasks and the Production Engineer for technical issues for the Interior Structures Business and has now direct reports. Network Relationships Internal Working with the Team Leaders in the coordination and expedite of work Working with the Production Ci Engineers ensuring all best practices are followed. Working with the inspection department concerning the manufacture of 1st article components Working with the tool stores and raw material stores ensuring compliance to appropriate data External N A Key Responsibilities Responsible for setting operating Cnc and conventional machine tools within the Structures Operation. This is likely to include the following disciplines Manufacturing of components including workpiece holders to engineering drawings Creation and editing of Nc programmes using supplied machine software Tool setting Liaising with the Production Engineer to ensure efficient programming and machining Ensuring components are manufactured to an acceptable standard Adhering to and maintaining lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles within the area i.e. 5s Smed Waste Reduction etc. Ability to read drawings Production of engineering sketches when required Effectively applies health safety procedures Hours of Work 39 hours (day shift) per week 40 hours (night shift) per week Travel N A Transparent Band Where applicable) Band E Holiday Entitlement 25 days day shift 20 days night shift Person Requirements Educational Requirements Minimum of Gcse or equivalent in Maths and English Knowledge Experience Experience of a machine shop environment Experience in setting operating Cnc milling machines Technical Skills Competencies Responsible for the quality of their own work. Reporting any defects to supervision Ensuring that they have adequate information to complete their task Requesting advice from supervision when unsure of their task or the required quality levels. Maintain good working relationships with others Maintaining the traceability of all components. Any other reasonable duties.
