Job Title Design Draughts person Department Engineering Department function The Engineering department provides an engineering design service for other departments locally globally and within other parts of the group. The Development section performs tasks in order to improve product knowledge and keep the company at the leading edge of industry materials and technology. Engineering Department functionally sits within the Umbilical Engineering design group as directed by the company. Engineering Manager based in Newcastle. As such the department contributes to the direction co-ordination and implementation of the development of company products. Main function of job The design draughtspersons main function is the production of umbilical hardware and ancillary equipment designs. The design of specific customer requirements involving umbilical hardware hose and umbilical end couplings development prototype manufacture and testing. Ensuring work is completed according to agreed guidelines design rules and procedures and in a timely and efficient manner. Main duties (in order of priority Provide support and service to other departments and group corporate organisation as detailed within the Service Request system. Prepare design drawings for customer approval and detail approved design drawings for manufacture (within approved guidelines. Advise and liase with design and production functions within company when implementing recommendations. Answer technical queries on all aspects of designs. Participate in external and internal meetings. Liase with outside customers manufacturers. Analyse and comment on customer requirements specifications and contract documentation. Qualifications required Onc or equivalent in an Engineering discipline Experience required A minimum of 4 years general engineering background (essential. Experience of the offshore industry and in the design of umbilicals or associated equipment (desirable. A minimum of 2 years experience of computerised systems (Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD essential MathCAD (desirable) and including spreadsheet word-processing software (essential. Specialist training required -Umbilical Engineering and general Management Systems (on job training Umbilical Design Design Rules and Design Tools (on job training Umbilical Hardware and Ancillary Design (on job training) Particular aptitude skills required -A degree of Engineering skills experience and expertise are needed to overcome any problems encountered whilst performing the jobholder s duties Ability to work on their own initiative Must be able to perform sometimes under pressure to achieve agreed objectives and work to specific deadlines laid down for contractual requirements.
