Asian Women Refuge Support Worker (United Kingdom,West Midlands)

We currently have a job for a Support Worker living in the West Midlands who is fluent in an Asian language. Based in Oldbury you will be providing support and guidance to Asian Women who have experienced domestic violence and are seeking refuge. Key areas of responsibility in this Refuge Support Worker job To be responsible for the co ordination of an effective system of support for Asian women accessing and living in refuge accommodation after experiencing domestic violence Dealing with complex and multiple needs of Asian women and their children with an aim to promote confidence independence safety and security and life after domestic violence Using your language skills to support women on a one to one basis using techniques such as keyworking Encouraging women to discuss their experiences learn to support each other Provide language and cultural support to women and act as representative with other agencies Working closely with other members of staff to ensure adequate support is given at all times Skills needed for this Support Worker Job Fluent in at Punjabi and Urdu Minimum 12 months paid experience in a Support Worker job Good working knowledge of the benefits system and the ability to work with clients on a one to one basis Available to work on an on-going basis Able to cover occasional weekend or evening shifts Benefits Temporary contract starting immediately On-going job working Monday Friday full time hours Good location close to local transport links Weekly pay by Hays Social Care An excellent job for an experienced Support Worker who can help and guide clients in a helpful and non-judgmental manner.
