For more information about Options for Life please visit our website at w.optionsforlife.info We currently have a vacancy for a full-time permenant Support Worker at our Making Tracks service in Oldbury. 37 hrs week 900am to 430pm Monday to Friday Salary £12757 14584 (pro rata) starting salary will depend on qualifications and or experience As part of a team the post-holder will plan and deliver a varied and interesting programme of community based leisure and social activities for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities complex needs using a person centred planning approach. Part of the post-holder s duties will be to escort on or drive one of the organisation s minibuses for minimum of 2 hours per day. The post-holder will provide care and support to service users which will include administering medication providing intimate personal care and the use of Peg feeding systems. Essential requirements prior experience of engaging with people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour a relevant qualification (e.g. Nvq 2 in Health Social Care) or the willingness to work towards this qualification the ability to work as part of a team good inter-personal and communication skills a warm friendly and approachable personality the ability to take part in active sessions with service users the ability to complete basic paperwork eligibility for UK employment Desirable criteria prior experience of Peg feeding and administering medication aged over 25 (to satisfy a condition of our minibus insurance and holding a full UK driving licence with D1 eligibility (i.e. can drive up to a 17-seater vehicle) prior experience of driving a minibus and the ability to drive a minibus for a minimum 2 hours per day a knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance a lifting and handling qualification a knowledge of health and safety issues including risk assessments The successful applicant will be required to undergo an Enhanced Crb and will be checked against the Isa barred lists for vulnerable adults and children.
